2008 NCAA Women's Soccer Division II Selections
INDIANAPOLIS--- The NCAA Division II Women's
Soccer Committee today announced the field of 48 teams for the 2008
NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship. Each of the
eight regions received six championship berths. Nineteen
automatic berths are awarded for the Division II championship.
For first- and second-round competition, teams will be paired in
their respective regions with the No. 4 seed playing the No. 5
seed; and the No. 3 seed playing the No. 6 seed Friday, November
14. The winner of the No.4/5 seed game will advance to play
the No. 1 seed and the winner of the No. 3/6 seed game will play
the No. 2 seed on Sunday, November 16. The West region
(Seattle Pacific site) will play first round games on Thursday,
November 13 and its second round game on Saturday, November
15. All games will be played on the campus of a participating
institution and will consist of two sites per region. The two
finalists in each region will advance to the third- and
quarterfinal-round competition to be played Friday, November 21 and
Sunday, November 23. The semifinals and championship games
will be played and December 5 & 7 at the University of Tampa in
Tampa, Florida.

Atlantic Region
West Virginia Wesleyan (15-2-1) vs. East Stroudsburg (11-5-4); West
Chester* (13-2-5) vs. winner of West Virginia Wesleyan/East
Stroudsburg.
Bloomsburg (13-5-1) vs. Slippery Rock (13-6-1); Mercyhurst*
(13-4-4) vs. winner of Bloomsburg/Slippery Rock.
Central Region
Colorado School of Mines (12-5-3) vs. Minnesota State Mankato
(15-3-2); Metropolitan State* (17-1-3) vs. winner of Colorado
School of Mines/Minnesota State Mankato.
Regis (Colorado) (15-6) vs. Augustana (South Dakota) (13-5-1);
Winona State* (19-2-1) vs. winner of Regis (Colorado)/Augustana

East Region
Merrimack (12-4-2) vs. Bridgeport (16-4-1); C.W. Post* (17-2-1) vs.

In the 2007 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer national championship
game Tampa needed penalty kicks to earn its first women's soccer
championship over Franklin Pierce.
