Hanavan Named NSCAA/adidas Women's Soccer Division II National Player of the Year
Jan. 10, 2007 MISSION, KAN. - Metro State's Kylee Hanavan has been named the NSCAA/adidas Women's Soccer Division II Collegiate National Player of the Year, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced. Hanavan will be honored at the NSCAA/adidas All-America Luncheon, held during the organization's annual convention, Jan. 13, in Indianapolis, Ind. "Kylee is very deserving award of this award," said Roadrunner head coach Danny Sanchez. "To lead us to two national championships in her three seasons here says more about her as a player than any goals scored or records set. She has forever left her mark on Metro State soccer and will truly be missed." Hanavan, a three-time NSCAA/adidas all-America, helped lead Metro State to two NCAA national titles in her three seasons (2004, 2006). She leaves Metro State as the Roadrunners' all-time career leader in points (206), goals (80) and assists (46). A two-time RMAC Player of the Year, she led the conference in points (66), goals (23) and assists (20) this past season. Her 20 assists set a Metro State single-season record. Hanavan, the Daktronics Midwest Region Player of the Year, was an eight-time RMAC Player of the Week over her three-year career. She finished the 2006 season ranked fourth in the NCAA in assists per game (0.80), sixth in points per game (2.64) and 21st in goals per game (0.92). An all-RMAC Tournament team selection, Hanavan and the Roadrunners won the RMAC regular-season title. The NSCAA will honor the national players of the year for NCAA Division I, II and III, along with the NAIA and junior college levels, at the luncheon. Metro State won its second national championship in three seasons in 2006 and finished the season with a record of 24-2-0 overall.
