EDMOND, Okla. -- Nebraska-Omaha maintained its No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Division II wrestling rankings Wednesday, with the defending national champion Mavericks the unanimous first-place pick in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll.
UNO received all eight first-place votes in balloting of coaches from around the country to finish with 160 points in the sixth poll of the season. The Mavericks have been No. 1 in 13 straight polls the past two years, having topped the rankings in all seven polls in 2008-09 en route to winning their fifth Division II national title.
Newberry (S.C.) received all eight second-place votes and stayed No. 2 with 152 points, while Upper Iowa jumped from sixth to third, Pittsburgh-Johnstown (Pa.) fell a spot to fourth and Wisconsin-Parkside moved up two spots to fifth.
Rounding out the top 10 is Augustana (S.D.), Minnesota State, Gannon (Pa.), St. Cloud State (Minn.) and Nebraska-Kearney.
The 2010 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships will be held March 12-13 in Omaha, Neb.
