SILVER CITY, N.M. -- Western New Mexico University women's basketball coach Quinn Tedder has resigned, the WNMU Department of Athletics announced today. Tedder leaves WNMU after spending one year with the women's basketball program. While with the program, the team compiled an overall record of 8-19 and 6-13 in conference play.

"It has been an honor to work with the staff and student-athletes at WNMU," says Tedder, "and I am very appreciative of the support I have been given by the University and community."

"The Department of Athletics appreciates Quinn's hard work and success in starting the turnaround of the women's basketball program," says athletic director Scott Woodard. "We understand life is about choices, and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors."

Prior to WNMU, Tedder spent one year as an assistant women's basketball coach at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU).

Tedder established a mentor program at both ETBU and WNMU for women's basketball student-athletes, which included job shadowing and support to student-athletes.

A former student-athlete of two conference championship teams at Texas Christian University (TCU), Tedder went to ETBU from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, where she was a special education teacher and head girl's basketball coach from 2005 to 2007. Tedder's team won bi-district and an area championship in 2006 to give the program its first playoff wins in ten years. That season, Arlington Heights also tied for the most successful season in school history.

At TCU, Tedder was a member of the Dean's Honor List from 1999-2002 and also won the TCU Women's Basketball Academic Award in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Following her career at TCU, she served on the TCU Letterman's Board of Directors for three years.

The WNMU Department of Athletics will commence a search for a new head coach immediately.
