CSU-Pueblo Women Upset #4 Fort Lewis, 83-65

PUEBLO, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo (21-8) posted their 11th win in school history in the RMAC Shootout tournament as they defeated Fort Lewis College (26-3) Friday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair Events Center, 83-65.  The Skyhawks, ranked fourth in the latest ESPN/USA Today poll and second in the NCAA Central Region, was the top seed in the RMAC basketball tournament while the ThunderWolves are seeded fourth.

Five ThunderWolves posted at least 12 points with senior Mary Rehfeld tallying game high honors with 18 points.  Teammate Rachel Espinoza also recorded 18 points and dished out a game high six assists to go with her two steals.

The Skyhawks Alison Rosel recorded a double-double by halftime and led the team with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  Ten of those caroms were on the offensive end.  Junior Laura Haugen added 10 points, two assists and two steals for Fort Lewis, who trailed by as much as 19 points.

CSU-Pueblo is ranked eighth in last week's NCAA Central Regional poll.  This is the third straight year they handed Fort Lewis a loss in the RMAC Shootout in Pueblo, Colo.

The ThunderWolves were solid from the floor, making 30-51 field goals for 58.8 percent and 17-18 free throws.  Fort Lewis was not as consistent, netting only 39.7 percent of their field goals (25-63).

CSU-Pueblo will face the winner between No. 2seed Nebraska-Kearney and No. 3 seed Colorado Mines in the championship game Saturday night at 6 p.m.
