
Three RMAC Women's Basketball Teams Selected to NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the second straight year and third time in four years, three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams have been selected to the NCAA regional tournament. The bracket, announced Sunday night on www.ncaa.com, will feature No. 4 ranked Fort Lewis College, seeded No. 2 in the tournament, fourth seed Nebraska-Kearney, and sixth seed CSU-Pueblo. Minnesota-State Mankato received the top seed and will play host to the 2009 NCAA Central Regional women's basketball tournament.
Fort Lewis, who won the RMAC regular season title with an 18-1 conference record (26-3 overall), is making its second straight NCAA post-season. Prior to losing two of their last five games, the Skyhawks were on 20-game winning streak and were ranked as high as No. 2 in the ESPN/USA Today poll. FLC will play seventh seed on March. 13th at 1 p.m.
The ThunderWolves, who won the RMAC Shootout Tournament for the third time in four years, are 22-8 this season and are currently on an eight game winning streak. They defeated Mesa State, Fort Lewis and Colorado Mines in the conference tournament to receive the automatic bid. CSU-Pueblo will look for their first win in the NCAA tournament in four years when they play No. 3 seed Winona State at 3 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney is making their 13th NCAA playoff appearance and their third straight tournament bid. The Lopers, who have won 12 of their last 13 games, are 6-12 overall in the NCAA tournament. They will face fifth seed Minnesota State-Moorhead Friday night at 8 p.m.
