Regis University Wins RMAC SHOOTOUT
Championship
PUEBLO, Colo. - March 4, 2007 - The Regis University women's
basketball team clinched a spot in the NCAA post-season tournament
Sunday afternoon after defeating Metro State College, 76-62, in the
RMAC SHOOTOUT championship game at the Colorado State Fair Events
Center.
Denise Lopez led the Rangers (25-5) with 15 points and 12
rebounds. Lopez made 5-of-12 field goals and 2-of-5 from
downtown. She added three assists and two steals in the
win. Teammate Breanne Burley added 14 points, netting 4-of-5
three-point field goals. Diana Lopez and Lauren Luebbe each
contributed 11 points.
The Roadrunners (24-6) were led by Danielle Ellerington who made
5-of-9 field goals for 15 points. Ashley Mickens led MSCD in
rebounds, grabbing eight caroms to go with her six points.
Regis sank 23-of-51 field goals for 45.1 percent while the
Roadrunners made 22-of-50 for 44 percent. Both teams were
knotted in rebounds with 29 apiece.
