NORTH CENTRAL REGION
Track: Aaron Braun, Adams State College
Braun defends his NCAA outdoor title this week in the 1,500 meters.
He has the field's fastest time (3:42.15). Braun, a junior from
Fort Collins, was named the top track performer at the Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference meet this spring.
Track: Tanya Gaurmer, Adams State College
Gaurmer qualified for the NCAA Championships in three events
(1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 meters) but will concentrate on the two
longer races this week. She has the nation's top time in the 3,000
(9:42.59) and is seeded second in the 5,000 (16:48.90). Gaurmer's
third-place finish at last fall's NCAA Cross Country Championships
led the Grizzlies' winning team effort. She is a senior from
Westminster, Colo.
