Hoffman Named Interim Track & Field Coach
CHADRON, Neb. - Willie Hoffman has been named the interim Chadron State College track and field head coach, athletic director Brad Smith announced on Monday.
Hoffman takes over for John Reiners, who resigned last week to become an assistant football coach at Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.
Hoffman, a native of Alliance, has been the Eagles' main assistant coach the past seven years and was in charge of offseason workouts. He also coached the jumpers and multi events while handling much of recruiting.
"Willie's going to do a great job," Smith said. "He's played a major role in the track program and the success it has had. He's run the offseason programs while John was involved with football and I know the student-athletes will respond well to him."
Hoffman earned his master's degree in secondary education from CSC in December 2004 and works as an instructor in the HPER Department.
Hoffman was a CSC high jumper who had a career best of 6-feet-7 and placed second in the event at the RMAC Outdoor Meet in 2001 by clearing 6-6. He was selected as Chadron State's RMAC male scholar-athlete for 2000-01.
