Alabama-Huntsville Hangs On To Top Spot In Final Regular
Season NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a wild conference championship
week, Alabama-Huntsville managed to top the NFCA Division II Top 25
poll for the seventh straight week, the Association announced on
Wednesday.
Despite falling in the Gulf South Conference tournament, the
Chargers (40-4-1) garnered seven of 16 first place votes in the
final regular-season poll of 2011 and finished just four points
ahead of No. 2 North Georgia (47-9), which topped four
ballots.
The GSC Champion Valdosta State Blazers (40-9) came in at third in the poll, up one from last week, and received three first-place votes. Meanwhile, Rollins (45-2) moved up one spot to fourth this and garnered the remaining two top votes. Rounding out the top five this week was Midwestern St. (47-10), who dropped two spots after finishing third in the Lone Star Conference tournament.
For just the second time this season, no teams fell out of the
weekly rankings. Nebraska Omaha (45-9) made the biggest jump
of the week; rocketing up six spots to No. 15 after winning the
MIAA tournament last week.
The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division
II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
Records as of May 8, 2011 are shown, first-place votes are in
parentheses.
