Daven Bond Named Colorado Christian Softball Coach
Colorado Christian University Athletic Director Announced
Thursday the hiring of Daven Bond as the first Head Softball Coach
for the Cougars. CCU added the sport in January.
Coach Bond brings over 30 years of baseball and softball coaching
and playing experience to the program, including a seven year stint
as pitcher for three different MLB minor and major league
teams.
In addition to coaching roles with the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club, Front Range Christian High School, Metro State College and the USA Baseball Athlete Development Program, Bond has served as head coach of the Colorado Stampede 18 Gold Softball team since 1994. Since joining the Stampede, he has amassed a 768-218 overall record. Bond also owns The Yard Baseball and Softball Academy, and has conducted over 20,000 private baseball and softball pitching and hitting lessons with over 4,000 players.
"I can't begin to express how excited I am to be at Colorado Christian University and to play an important role in building a softball program at such a great university,” commented Coach Bond. “I have been blessed over the years to have had some amazing opportunities in my life, but I am excited for this challenge more than any other. Looking back, I know that the Lord was leading me here all along and I am thrilled to be a part of the CCU family."
Coach Bond will join CCU in mid-February, and, together with Assistant Coach Jess Stephens, will work to fill the roster of a team that is set to officially begin in the spring of 2012.
“We are thrilled to have Daven join our staff,” remarked Athletic Director Darren Richie. “He brings a vast knowledge of the game and is a perfect fit for CCU. His playing experience at the highest levels combined with a proven successful coaching career show that he is the coach we need to build a competitive softball program that will immediately experience success in the Rocky Mountain athletic Conference.”
