National Champion Hawaii Pacific Takes Top Spot in Final NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After winning its first-ever national championship on Monday, Hawaii Pacific (50-8) received all 16 first-place votes in the final NFCA Division II Top 25 poll of the 2010 season.

Runner-up Valdosta State (51-9) stayed at No. 2 in the poll, while semi-finalist Angelo State (50-15) leaped from No. 19 to No. 3 after the a string showing in the tournament.

The other national semi-finalist, Metro State (53-6), held its ground at No. 4 in the final poll, while previous No. 1 North Georgia (51-2) rounded out the top spots in fifth.

Dropping out of the final poll were regional qualifiers No. 24 C.W. Post (41-16) and No. 24 Carson-Newman.  Replacing those two teams were East Region champion and National Tournament participant Molloy (43-21) at tenth and super-regional qualifier Cal State Chico (33-21) at seventeenth.

The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. Final 2010 records are shown, first-place votes are in parentheses.
