Metro State and Mesa State receive bids to the NCAA Tournament

Metro State and Mesa State receive bids to the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Metro State will be hosting one of two Central Regional Tournaments May 14-16.  The Roadrunners will host the tournament at the UC-Colorado Springs softball complex.   Mesa State (23-20) and Metro State (46-4) will face each other in the first round on May 14.  The two teams have played each other seven times this year, including three times this past weekend at the RMAC Tournament.

Joining Metro State and Mesa State in Colorado are Minnesota State, Mankato (32-13) and Winona State (35-12).  Wayne State (Neb.) will host the other Central Region Tournament.  The other three teams completing that regional tournament are Minnesota-Duluth, Augustana College and Concordia-St. Paul.

The winner from each of the two Central Regional Tournaments will face each other May 21-22 in the Super Regional.   The winner from that tournament will advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament May 27-31 in St. Joseph, Mo.
