Kira Zeiter Takes The Reigns As New FLC Softball Coach
Durango, Colo. – Fort Lewis College Athletic Director Kelly Higgins announced Tuesday that Kira Zeiter has accepted his offer to become the new Women’s Interim Head Softball Coach. The offer is subject to approval by the FLC Board of Trustees. Zeiter will become the “fourth” softball coach in the College’s history and replaces Pam Adams, who resigned in June.
“We are extremely excited to bring Kira on board at FLC”, Higgins said. “She has proven to be an excellent coach within the RMAC helping Adams State win two RMAC West titles in the last three years. She has all of the qualities we were looking for in our next coach, both on and off the field. Kira will be a great addition to our staff.”
Zeiter joins Fort Lewis after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Adams State College. While at Adams, she was responsible for off-campus recruiting, scouting opponents, summer camps and day-to-day operations for the Grizzlies. Her coaching record the past three years at Adams State is 76-59.
Prior to her time coaching at Adams, Zeiter played for and graduated from Adams. Receiving her Masters in December of 2009. As an athlete Zeiter played in 198 games which is the most any ASC player has played in since the program started in 1993. Zeiter also won many honors as a player and student.
A native of Tucson, AZ Zeiter graduated from Catalina Foothills High School.
“I’d like to thank Kelly for this chance to take the reigns at Fort Lewis,” Zeiter said. “I’m extremely excited about this great opportunity. I have great respect for Fort Lewis. It’s proven to be a great Athletic program and a place that competes nationally. I look forward to getting started with the players and to start getting to know them.”
