Skyhawks Claim 2009 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Title

Tampa, Fla. - Fort Lewis' David Barden scored his fourth goal in two games and his second straight game-winning goal to lift the Skyhawks to their second NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Title.  Fort Lewis defeated Lees-McRae (18-3-2), 1-0, Saturday evening at Pepin Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

Barden found the back of the net in the 78th minute off of Kyle Woods' assist.  The goal was Barden's 14th of the season and his sixth game-winning goal this year.  Goalkeeper Zane Wells tallied two saves for his 13th shutout of the season.

Fort Lewis out shot Lees-McRae 14-11 (7-3 shots on goal).

The Skyhawks, who won the NCAA title in 2005, finished their season on a 21 game winning streak and a 24-1 overall record.
