Colorado Christian University Men’s Basketball Coach David Daniels announced Tuesday that he will be resigning his position to take the head men’s basketball opening at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID.
Daniels tenure at CCU included a six-year stint at the helm of what was consistently the most successful program on campus. Under his direction, the Cougar squad made four post-season conference tournaments, three consecutive appearances in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship game, and a 2010 showing at the NCAA Division II National Tournament. In 2008, he was named RMAC East Division Coach of the Year. His run as Head Coach capped off a stand-out career for CCU in which Daniels received All-Conference recognition and led his squad to the University’s first ever National Tournament appearance. Daniels was inducted into the Colorado Christian Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.
“Coach Daniels has had tremendous success at CCU and has set a strong foundation and expectation for the future for Cougar Basketball,” commented Athletic Director Darren Richie. “We are grateful for the years of service David provided, for his time on the court and his devotion to student-athletes, and are confident he will build a tremendously successful program at NNU.”
Assistant Coach Brandon Nicol will serve as Interim Head Coach for the program as the search for Daniels’ replacement ensues.
