NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Rankings
2009-10 Rankings - Feb. 2, 2010 (Ranking #10)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Arkansas Tech and Southern Indiana, the two remaining undefeated teams at the NCAA Division II level, have retained their status as the top two teams in this week's NABC/Division II coaches poll for the second week in a row.
Arkansas Tech had both of its scheduled games last week postponed due to the winter weather, but returned to action Monday and won a hard fought game at Christian Brothers to remain undefeated. Southern Indiana won a pair of games on road to keep its perfect record intact heading into a stretch where it will play nine times in a span of 19 days to close out the season.
A loss by Fort Hays State Saturday at Northwest Missouri State allowed several teams to vault over the Tigers in the poll, beginning with conference rival Central Missouri who takes over the No. 3 spot in the rankings. Minnesota State and Valdosta State also moved up one spot apiece to complete the top five, while Indiana (Pa.) and Midwestern State moved up to sixth and seventh, respectively, before Fort Hays State appears at No. 8. Seattle Pacific and Bentley also joined the top 10 this week as they hold the next two spots.
Florida Southern also advanced two spots to No. 11, while Augusta State, due to its loss early last week at South Carolina Aiken, dropped from eighth to 12th in the new poll. Mesa State and Drury each moved up a spot and Kutztown fell eight places to No. 15 after a loss at Bloomsburg over the weekend.
Kentucky Wesleyan retains its No. 16 spot in the poll, while Rollins, Western Washington, Findlay and East Stroudsburg complete the top 20. The final five teams in this week's rankings are Georgia College & State, Quincy, Metropolitan State, West Liberty - the only newcomer in the poll this week - and Augustana.
The NCAA will release its new weekly regional ranking on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
