2009-10 Rankings - Dec. 22, 2009 (Ranking #5)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - With the holiday break right around the corner, very little has changed in regards to the NABC/Division II coaches poll as nine of the squads ranked among the top 10 last week stayed among the top group and only one team fell out of the top 25.
The first six spots remained unchanged this week, with Central Missouri retaining the top spot after sweeping its two games in the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas. Florida Southern and Augusta State stayed at second and third, respectively, while Indiana (Pa.) remained in fourth and Arkansas Tech fifth after its win Saturday at North Alabama. Seattle Pacific also picked up a win Saturday to stay in the sixth position.
The first change comes at No. 7, as Rollins' loss to Central Missouri in Las Vegas allowed six teams to slide up in the poll. Kutztown , one of five undefeated teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, moved up to No. 7, followed by a trio of unbeaten teams in Minnesota State, Midwestern State and Southern Indiana.
Southwest Baptist opens the second 10 in the 11th spot and Rollins checks in at No. 12, then another pack of teams, beginning with Fort Hays State at No. 13, moved up one spot apiece in part due to a loss by Drury, who was ranked 12th a week ago prior to a loss in Las Vegas to Missouri Western.
Cal Poly Pomona occupies the No. 14 spot in the rankings, followed by Valdosta State, Western Washington, Kentucky Wesleyan, BYU-Hawaii and Montevallo, with Drury checking in at No. 20.
Bentley moved up two spots to No. 21 as did Quincy to No. 22 and Stillman to 23rd. The final spots in the final pre-holiday rankings are held by Augustana at No. 24 and a tie in the 25th spot with Mesa State and West Chester.
There will be no ranking conducted next week; the next rankings will be released on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
