Metro State Men's Basketball Coach Hays Resigns
DENVER, Colo. -
Metro State announced the resignation of men’s basketball
head coach Brannon Hays on Tuesday to prepare for a career
advancement. Hays had been the head coach for the past four seasons
for the Roadrunners.
“I want to thank Brannon for his dedication to our
program,” Metro State athletic director Joan McDermott said.
“We wish him the best of luck in his future
endeavors.”
Hays posted a 98-27 record at Metro State, including 61-15 in Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference games during his four-year tenure. He
was named the RMAC East Division Coach of the Year in 2008-09 and
has led the Roadrunners to three RMAC Tournament championships and
two regular season tournament championships.
Metro State finished the 2009-10 season with a 24-7 record,
including 14-5 in the RMAC with just one senior on the team. The
Roadrunners captured the RMAC Tournament championship and advanced
to the NCAA Tournament. Metro State is the only NCAA Division II
school to reach the NCAA Tournament in 13 of the past 14 seasons.
