CCU’s Neuhaus Headed to Pre-NBA Draft Showcase
Lakewood, Colo. - April 8, 2010 – Colorado Christian University senior Justin Neuhaus has accepted an invitation to play at the 2010 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, scheduled for April 7-10. The 6-11 center from San Marcos, TX joins 63 of the best college basketball seniors from across the nation in the 4-day, 12-game tournament which will be played in front of scouts from all 30 NBA teams.
Neuhaus’ invite came after Duke center Brian Zoubek vacated his spot on a team that includes Tennessee’s Wayne Chism and Raymar Morgan from Michigan State.
“We are extremely proud of Justin and excited about the opportunity he’s been given,” commented Head Coach David Daniels. “Justin has played a tremendous role in our success over the last 4 years and we look forward to watching his future as a basketball player unfold.”
A 3-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Neuhaus is 1 of only 4 NCAA Division II players in the tournament.
Last month, Neuhaus was received Daktronics All-Region honors after nabbing an RMAC All-East Division nod for the second year in a row.
There are approximately 60 current NBA players and coaches that have played at Portsmouth. Alumni include NBA greats John Stockton, Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Derek Fisher and Ben Wallace. Tournament games begin Thursday at 7:00 pm at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, VA.
