RMAC SHOOTOUT Championship Games Will Be Live on Altitude

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- March 1, 2010 -- For the sixth year in a row, Altitude Sports & Entertainment will broadcast the RMAC SHOOTOUT basketball tournament championship games. Live coverage begins on Saturday, March 6th  at 5 p.m. on Altitude 2, with the men's title game. The women's championship follows at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Dan Karcher will provide play-by-play for both games. Karcher has been the play-by-play voice of the RMAC Football Game of the Week for the past two years. He has also been the voice of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox minor league baseball team for 20 seasons.

RMAC Hall of Famer Raul Varela will be the color analyst for the men's championship. Varela is the all-time leading scorer in Colorado Mines history with 2,551 points. He was named RMAC Player of the Year in 1996 and is a two-time All-America selection.

Former Adams State coach Jeff Storm will be the color analyst for the women's championship. Storm led the Grizzlies women's team from 2000-2006. He was also assistant men's basketball coach at ASC from 1996-2000. Prior to his coaching career, Storm played at Boston University where he was named team MVP in 1993.

Lauren Gardner will be the sideline reporter for both games. Gardner is the sideline reporter for Altitude broadcasts of the Colorado Mammoth (lacrosse), Colorado Eagles (hockey) and University of Northern Colorado (basketball). She also serves as in-arena host for the Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets.

During the live broadcast, Altitude 2 will air a special edition of the RMAC Showcase. This 30-minute episode will feature live interviews and trophy presentations after the men's championship. Plus there will be a preview the women's championship.
