Skyhawks Move Past Colorado Christian in Semifinal, 92-79
PUEBLO, Colo. - Kirk Archibeque and DeAndre Lansdowne combined for 57 of Fort Lewis' 92 points to win the second semifinal men's game Saturday night at the Colorado State Fair Events Center. Fort Lewis, the No. 3 seed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Shootout tournament, improves to 24-8 on the season.
Archibeque led all scorers with 36 points after he made 14-20 field goals and 8-14 free throws. He was one rebound shy of a double-double with five of his nine rebounds coming on the offensive boards. Lansdowne tallied 21 points and dished out a game high five assists to go with his four steals and six caroms.
All five starters for Colorado Christian scored in double figures with Jordan Long leading the team with 22 points. Tyler House added 14 points and Justin Neuhaus posted 12 points and a game high nine rebounds (tied). Peter Bailey and Brendan Neuhaus finished with 11 points each.
The Skyhawks made 35-64 field goals (54.7 percent) and 19-35 from the free throw line. CCU, the No. 7 seed, shot 46.6 percent from the floor (27-58), including 11-29 from three-point range.
Fort Lewis will face the 2008-09 RMAC regular season champions, Metro State, tomorrow night at 8 p.m.
