Colorado Christian Defeats Nebraska-Kearney,
78-68

Christian, playing in their first ever final four appearance of the
Rocky Mountain Athletic SHOOTOUT, defeated Nebraska-Kearney, 78-68,
Friday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair Events Center.
The Cougars, seeded #3 in the tournament and coming off their
first ever RMAC SHOOTOUT win (79-69 vs. Metro State Feb. 29, 2008),
were led by senior Brian Stamer with 40 points and a RMAC SHOOTOUT
record 21 rebounds. Stamer made 16 of 24 field goals and 8 of
11 free throws as part of his game high 40 points. Joining
Stamer in the win was Peter Bailey with 12 points and Rory Morgan
with 11 points. Morgan netted 3 of 6 three-point field goals
and both free throw attempts in the 10 point win. Sophomore
Justin Neuhaus notched a game high five blocked shots.
Leading the #2 seed Lopers in scoring was Drake Beranek and
Josiah with 18 and 17 points a piece. The Lopers made 40.3
percent from the floor (29 of 72), while the Cougars shot 50.9
percent in field goals (28 of 55).
Colorado Christian will play top seed Fort Lewis Saturday night
at 6 p.m. in the championship game. The winner will receive
an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
