
Fort Lewis Men Advance to RMAC SHOOTOUT Championship Game
Pueblo, Colo. -- March 7, 2008 -- Five Fort Lewis players scored in double digits to lead the Skyhawks past Western New Mexico, 90-66, Friday afternoon at the Colorado State Fair Events Center. With the semifinal round win, the Skyhawks advance to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference SHOOTOUT championship game Saturday night at 6 p.m.
Trent Bowman led all scorers with 20 points after he netted 9 of 11 field goals. Freshman DeAndre Landsdowne added 17 points, while Tim Crowell and Kyle Behrens registered 11 each. Crowell was one assist shy of recording a double-double. He also added a game high four steals. Devon Manning rounded out the Skyhawks leading scorers with 10 points.
Western New Mexico was paced by JJ Galberth with 14 points. Galberth notched 5 of 6 field goals and all three free throws. Devin Stewart added 12 points and Casey Crevelone and DJ Nicholas each chipped in 10 points.
Fort Lewis led 43-35 at halftime and out-scored the Mustangs in the second half, 47-31. The Skyhawks, seeded #1 in the tournament, made 36 of 69 field goals for 57.1 percent. WNMU, seed fourth, sank 23 of 51 field goals for 45.1 percent.
Fort Lewis will play the winner of the men's second semifinal game between #2 seed Nebraska-Kearney and #3 seed Colorado Christian.
