Metro State College Seals NCAA Spot with
70-60 Win over Adams State
PUEBLO, Colo. - March 4, 2007 - Four Metro State College
Roadrunners scored at least 10 points on their way to a 70-60 win
over Adams State Sunday afternoon in the RMAC SHOOTOUT men's
championship game held at the State Fair Events Center.
Jesse Wagstaff, the tournament's most valuable player, led all
scorers with 19 points, 12 of which came from long range.
Marquise Carrington added 17 points while Michael Bahl added 11
points and five assists. Benas Veikalas came off the bench to
net 10 points and six caroms.
Adams State's Roman Moniak registered a team high 18 points
after making 7-of-10 field goals. All four of Wes Jensen's
field goals were from behind the arc and he made all four field
goal attempts for 16 points. Marcus Mortensen tallied 10
points and a game high six assists.
Metro State College (27-3) shot 50 percent from the floor
(24-48) and 50 percent from long range (9-18). The Grizzlies
(16-13) notched 18-of-46 field goals for 38.1 percent and 19-of-26
field goals for 73.1 percent.
With the win, Metro State receives an automatic berth to the
NCAA post-season playoffs. Complete North Central brackets
