Roadrunners Outlast Fort Lewis, 73-58
PUEBLO, Colo. - March 3, 2007 - Metro State College and Fort
Lewis traded six lead changes Saturday afternoon at the State Fair
Events Center in Pueblo, Colo. Metro State College closed the
game by outscoring the Skyhawks 17-5 in the final three and a half
minutes of regulation to win the RMAC SHOOTOUT semi-final game,
73-58.
Metro State's Michael Bahl led the Roadrunners with 21
points. Bahl hit on 8-of-14 field goals and 4-of-8
three-pointers. He was joined by Jesse Wagstaff who added 16
points and 10 rebounds as the only two Roadrunners to score in
double figures. Tim Bieri posted a game high 22 points and
added 10 caroms for the Skyhawks. Ryan Jameson and Devon
Manning added 13 and 10 points each.
The Roadrunners (26-3) made 25-of-51 field goals (49 percent)
and 7-of-21 three-pointers (33.3 percent). Fort Lewis notched
38.6 percent from the floor (22-57) and 20.8 percent from long
range (20.8 percent).
Metro State will play in the championship game on Sunday, March
4 at the State Fair Events Center at 2 p.m. They will face
the winner of the second semi-final game (winner between
Nebraska-Kearney and Adams State). Both the men's (2 p.m.)
and women's games (noon) will be aired lived on Altitude Sports and
Entertainment.
