Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney athletic director Jon
McBride announced today that Chad Lydiatt has agreed to continue as
the Lopers women's head golf coach.
During the just completed 2008-09 season, Lydiatt and his wife
Elizabeth were interim co-head coaches and worked side-by-side with
graduate assistant and former Loper standout Kami Hehn. Elizabeth
will now serve as an assistant coach.
"I first want to thank Kami and the Lydiatt's for their team
efforts this past season in support of UNK women's golf. Under
Chad's direction, we look forward to continuing this past season's
momentum in the years ahead," said McBride.
In 2009, UNK reached the post-season for the first time in seven
years as freshman Sara Wissing finished 17th at the
Central Regional in South Dakota. UNK must replace one senior
off a squad that was among the top 15 in the Central Region at
year's end.
Chad Lydiatt is currently the head golf professional at Kearney
Country Club and will continue in that position. A Kearney High
graduate, Lydiatt is the only Nebraskan to be an AJGA All-American
and to also successfully get through all three stages of
Q-school.
After lettering four years in golf at the University of Iowa, he
spent 10 years playing professional golf, including stops on the
Nationwide, Canadian and Hooters Tours. A certified ESPN Golf
School instructor, Lydiatt was the 1989 Class A individual state
champion for the Bearcats.
