Saur, Scott Named RMAC Players of the Month for September

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- October 6, 2009 -- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has instituted a new awards program to recognize outstanding performances by student-athletes throughout the league by honoring student-athletes each month.  The league's sports information directors nominate the student-athletes and are selected by the league office.  The inaugural award winners for September 2009 are Colorado Mines' Adam Saur and Nebraska-Kearney's Nikki Scott.

Saur, a 6-3, 200-pound wide receiver from San Antonio, Texas, caught 31 passes for 520 yards (long of 50) and seven touchdowns as CSM went 3-1 overall (3-0 RMAC) during the month of September.  A senior athletics Saur, has 25 career touchdown receptions and is just six shy of tying the all-time CSM career record in that category.  He was selected as the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, as well as the NFFCC Player of the Week, on September 21st.  He is currently ranked first in the RMAC in both receiving yards (558) and receiving yards per game (111.6), second in touchdowns (eight), third in both receptions (36) and scoring (9.6 ppg), fourth in receptions per game (7.2) and eighth in all-purpose yardage.

A native of Broken Bow, Neb., Scott was the Lopers top offensive threat and top blocker in September.  She is ranked fifth in the nation, hitting at a .424 clip and his hit over .300 in 14 of the Lopers 16 matches.  She leads the eighth ranked team in blocks per set (.76) and is second in kills per set (3.22).  Last month, the 6-2 senior middle hitter tallied seven matches with at least 10 kills and had a season high 19 kills in a four set win at St. Cloud State.  Against nationally ranked Nebraska-Omaha (W, 3-2), she tallied 15 kills and three blocks, and added 11 kills and five blocks against nationally ranked Metro State (W, 3-1).
