Mesa State's Mike Dominguez and Colorado Mines' Sarah Moore Named RMAC February Athletes of the Month

Colorado Springs, Colo. - March 4, 2010 - The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference instituted an awards program to recognize outstanding performances by student-athletes throughout the league by honoring student-athletes each month. The league's sports information directors nominate the student-athletes that are then selected by the league office. This month's award winners for February 2010 are Mesa State's Mike Dominguez (basketball) and Colorado Mines' Sarah Moore (swimming & diving).

Dominguez, a native of Santa Fe, N.M., averaged 22.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game in February.  In eight games, he shot 48 of 99 from the floor (.485), 24 of 54 from long range (.444) and 60 of 72 from the charity stripe (.833).  The senior guard helped the Mavericks to the RMAC Regular Season and West Division titles.  He was named the RMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year, First Team All-RMAC, West Division Player of the Year, and First Team West Division.  He tallied three games in February with at least 26 points scored, including 37 points at Adams State.

Moore was selected as the RMAC Women's Diver of Year and the RMAC Women's Diver of the Meet at the 2010 RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships. She established new RMAC records in both the 1-meter (408.90) and the 3-meter (474.10) events. The records broken by Moore were 28 year old records set by Jennifer Butler in 1982. Moore won both events earning First Team All-RMAC honors. She won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at six competitions during the season and was named the RMAC Women's Diver of the Week six times. Earlier this year, she qualified for Nationals in just her second collegiate meet of the season. At the Rocky Mountain Invite in October, Moore established three new school records, winning both the 1-meter (218.65) and 3-meter (274.25) events and establishing a new school record doing six dives in the 3-meter event. Moore broke the school record in both the 1-meter (459.50) and the 3-meter (512.45) winning both events in the 11-dive format.
