Marv Kay To Emcee 2011 RMAC Hall of Fame

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – May 12, 2011 -- Marv Kay will be the Master of Ceremonies at the 2011 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Hall of Fame and Awards ceremony, Friday, June 24 at the Colorado Springs Marriott Hotel. Cocktail hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m.

Kay was inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame in 2010. He spent more than 40 years as a student-athlete, coach and administrator at Colorado Mines. Kay was a three-time All-American in football playing on the offensive and defensive lines. Kay was also a three-time letter-winner in wrestling and President of his junior and senior classes. After graduating from CSM with a degree in Engineering, Kay joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he served for two years. He then returned to Mines as assistant football coach and head swimming coach. In 1969, Kay became the head football coach and went on to win a school record 84 games during the next 25 years. Kay was named RMAC Coach of the Year in 1975 and 1979. In 1995, Kay became the Director of Athletics before stepping down in 2004. During his time as A.D. and football coach, Kay was also the Mayor of Golden from 1988 to 1995.

This is the ninth annual Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Hall of Fame and Awards ceremony. Six individuals and seven teams will be inducted into the 2011 class. Gary Garner (Fort Hays State), Jim Krob (Fort Hays State), Amy Miller Brammer (Mesa State), Sarah Parkey Meyer (Adams State), Al Rozman (Western State) and Brad Smith (Chadron State) are the individual honorees. In addition, the Adams State men’s cross country teams from 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989 will be inducted. 

In addition, all 22 RMAC Coaches of the Year will be presented with their awards along with the J.W. Campbell/Con Marshall Award to the top Sports Information Director in the RMAC.
