by Jeff Duggan, CSM Sports Information Director

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 13, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl, which will be played on Saturday, December 1st, in St. George, Utah.

The Orediggers (7-4 overall) will face the Western Oregon University Wolves (8-2 overall) in the 22nd Annual Dixie Rotary Bowl at Hansen Stadium on the Dixie State College campus.  Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time).  The top schools from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the newly-formed football league of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) that did not qualify for the NCAA Division II playoffs this fall received invitations to play in the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl.

"We are very excited about our opportunity to compete in the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl," said Bob Stitt, head football coach at Colorado School of Mines.  "We are proud to represent the RMAC and we look forward to our upcoming trip to St. George, Utah."

The 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl marks the second time in four years that Colorado School of Mines has qualified for post-season play.  After compiling a perfect 11-0 record during the 2004 regular season, CSM qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs.  The Orediggers went 6-2 in the RMAC this fall and secured their sixth winning season in the past seven years.

General admission tickets ($7.00 apiece) for the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl are available for purchase now through Wednesday, November 28th, at 12:00 p.m. through the Colorado School of Mines Department of Athletics by calling 303-384-2254.

Please be advised that telephone orders will require a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express).  Additionally, beginning on Monday, November 19th, walk-up tickets may also be purchased at the CSM Athletics main office in Volk Gymnasium on the CSM campus.  No pass lists will be accepted for the 2007 Dixie Rotary Bowl.

The Dixie Rotary Bowl, which began inviting NCAA Division II schools in 2006, is one of two sanctioned NCAA Division II bowl games.  Prior to last season, the Dixie Rotary Bowl was the premiere junior college bowl game in the country for 20 years.
