RMAC Women's Soccer Preseason Major Awards Announced

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the 2018 RMAC Women's Soccer Preseason Awards on Wednesday. 
 
The awards were voted on by the conference's 14 head coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athlete.
 
PRESEASON COACHES POLL
In the coaches poll, UCCS earned 11 first-place votes as they were selected to win the RMAC with 163 points. Last season they finished third  with a 10-2 conference record. UCCS had a historic run as the Mountain Lions played in their first RMAC Tournament Championship game, earned their first RMAC Tournament title, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and made the Final Four for the first time in program history.
 
Colorado School of Mines, who finished in second last year with a 10-1-1 conference record, was picked to finish second with 153 points and two first-place votes. Regis, who won the regular season title with a 11-0-1 record, earned one first-place vote and 152 points to finish in third. MSU Denver, Dixie State, CSU-Pueblo, Colorado Mesa and Westminster rounded out the top eight.

PRESEASON PLAYERS OF THE YEAR/ALL-RMAC
Ten student-athletes on the preseason All-RMAC team made First Team or Second Team All-RMAC at the end of the 2017 season.

Mackenzie Bean was selected as the RMAC Offensive Player of the Year, Savannah Boarman was selected as the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and Alexa Eastep was selected as the RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year.
 
Bean started in all 19 games for the Pack in 2017. She tallied 30 points, scoring 14 goals and two assists. As a junior her points and goals led the conference. She also ranks fourth in the RMAC in shots per game with 2.89. Bean was selected as the RMAC Player of the Year and was named D2CCA First Team All-South Central Region.
 
Boarman started 18-of-21 games last season. She scored three goals, seven points and had one assist. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native was named to the RMAC All-Tournament team and was also an RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection.
 
Last campaign, Eastep played nine games and garnered five shutouts. The Henderson, Nevada native tallied 48 saves on the season and was named RMAC honorable mention at the end of the year.
