SWIMMING & DIVING: Lindenwood men, CBU women tabbed preseason favorites

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Lindenwood is the men’s swimming and diving favorite, while California Baptist University is the women’s favorite after the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Swimming and Diving Coaches’ Polls were released Tuesday.
For the men, Lindenwood will be looking to repeat as RMAC champions after winning the RMAC Championship last year. The Lions scored 1,021 points at the meet, besting second-place CBU by nearly 300 points.
The Lions garnered 16 points in the preseason poll, with coaches awarding four points for a first-place vote, three points for a second-place vote, continuing in descending order. Lindenwood gained four first-place votes. Coaches could not vote for their own team.
Slotting in behind the Lions was CBU on the men’s side. The Lancers tallied 13 total points. Colorado Mesa was tabbed third with 10 points. Colorado Mines was selected fourth with six points, while Adams State finished with five points.
For the women, CBU edged out Lindenwood as the preseason favorite, finishing with 46 total points and four first-place votes. The Lancers won last year’s RMAC Championships with a team score of 1,053 points, more than 300 points more than second-place Colorado Mesa.
Lindenwood garnered 44 total points in the preseason poll, notching three first-place votes. The Lions were followed by Colorado Mesa and its 37 points. The Mavericks were the other team to receive a first-place nod.
Colorado Mines was selected fourth with 30 total points, while CSU-Pueblo is slated behind the Orediggers with 21 points. Adams State is tabbed sixth with 20 points. Western State (18 points) and Nebraska Kearney (8 points) rounded out the poll.
