Mustangs Wind Up Ninth

The Mustangs remained consistent on Tuesday at the 2nd Annual NDNU Invitational. They finished their three rounds in ninth place (918), just as they did the day before. Valdosta State, a team from Georgia, won the second annual NDNU Invitational.

Valdosta State players turned in two under-par and an even-par scores to net a 286 on Tuesday to edge Cal State Stanislaus, 875-877, to win the tournament at Poppy Ridge Golf Course. Brent Witcher led VSU with a 68 on Tuesday to finish the tournament as the individual medalist with an 8-under 204.

For WNMU, Greg Pool (Surrey, BC) led the way with a 73 in the final round to finish sixth with a 217. Scott Crichton (Dalgety Bay, Scotland) finished just behind Pool with a 218 total score. Pool had a one-over 73 on Tuesday; whereas Crichton shot a 74.

Cal State East Bay, the leader after Monday's play by four strokes, finished third at 878.

Valdosta entered the final round in fourth, ten back of CSUEB and six behind Cal State Stanislaus, but with a 68 coupled with a 71 and an even-par 72, Valdosta State were able to surpass the field for the win. No. 1 Sonoma State placed fourth with an 885.
