Durham Named Head Tennis Coach

by Anthony Sandstrom, CSU-Pueblo Sports Information Director

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Colorado State University-Pueblo athletic department has hired Thomas Durham as the ThunderWolves' head tennis coach.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Durham back to Pueblo," said Director of Athletics Joe Folda. "Tom's knowledge, passion, and ability will help CSU-Pueblo sustain a program that is regionally and nationally competitive."

Durham will be in command of the men's and women's programs, both of which are returning several key student-athletes from last season.

"I am very exited about the opportunity to come back to CSU-Pueblo," Durham said. "I couldn't ask for a better situation than to step into such an established and successful program."

Durham received his bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Southern Colorado in 1995 and was also a standout tennis player, qualifying for nationals during his senior campaign. In 1990 he served as University's interim head tennis coach.

Durham has held numerous instructor positions throughout southern part of Colorado, and had a brief two year stint as a tennis instructor in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1975.

He and his family are returning to Pueblo from Tucson, Ariz., where Durham was the Head Pro at Center Court Racquet Club and a private coach for several nationally ranked players.
