New Mexico Highlands University

New Mexico Highlands celebrated 100 years of educational services to New Mexico in 1993. Since its beginning under the guidance of noted anthropologist, Edgar Lee Hewet, New Mexico Highlands has been noted for its academic excellence and individualized instruction.

NMHU offers enhanced academic and professional options in eight schools: Behavioral Sciences, Business, Communication and Fine Arts, Education, Humanities, Mathematical Sciences and Engineering, Natural Sciences and Social Work. Through the Science Technology Alliance and other consortia, students and faculty engage in cooperative programs with top research facilities and universities nationwide.

Students at Highlands celebrate their diversity while sharing the unity of purpose that brings them to the university: a desire to increase their knowledge, deepen their understanding and better their lives through hard work and commitment to learning.

NMHU's Las Vegas location in the gateway to northern New Mexico provides an endless array of cultural and recreational activities including the arts of Santa Fe, downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, hunting and fishing, all within an hour's drive of the campus.
