Metropolitan State College of Denver

Take the energy and excitement of downtown Denver, mix it with a diverse student body and faculty, and you have one of the most unique college settings in the world.

Since opening its doors in 1965, The Metropolitan State College of Denver has grown rapidly to become the third largest institution of higher education in the state of Colorado. With this growth, the college has earned an increasingly high reputation for excellence as a four-year urban institution.

The founders of Metro State envisioned an institution of higher learning that possessed the same assets that most traditional colleges employ. They wanted their school to sit in the heart of one of the largest cities in the country and have it offer a great education at affordable prices. When a student attends Metro State, that person receives an education in both the classroom and in life.

Metro State educates more undergraduate Coloradans than any other college or university in the state. One out of every nine people in the Denver metropolitan area has taken a class at Metro State, a total of more than 210,000 people.

The college's outstanding academic programs prepare each student for life after college. These programs, many of which are nationally recognized, prepare students for the real world. With 50 majors and 68 minors, Metro State offers degree programs in almost every career field.

Athletically, Metro State has produced 96 All-Americans and was one of the seven charter members of the Colorado Athletic Conference in 1989 before joining the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 1996. Metro State competed as a NAIA member until 1983, when the Roadrunners jumped to the NCAA Division II ranks. Since 1998, Metro State has captured 26 conference titles as well as the 2000 & 2002 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championships and the 2004 and 2006 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer national crowns.
