West Las Vegas High School: played basketball and ran track and cross country, 1980- top-three high school national meet qualifiers, 2nd place in state cross country meet, district cross country champion, West Las Vegas High School record holder (400m dash), 1979-  3rd place state cross country meet, West Las Vegas High School record holder (880 run). Highest cross country finisher in history at West Las Vegas High School.
NMHU: 1984- "Outstanding Achievement Award" awarded by the House of Representatives, NAIA cross country all-American (15th place), RMAC cross country all-conference, 1983-NAIA cross country all-American (6th place), 1982- NAIA cross country all-American (21st place), 1981 NAIA cross country all-American (15th place), RMAC cross country all-conference. 16th athlete inducted into the NAIA National Hall of Fame
