RMAC Hall of Fame

Nominee Name: Greg Meyer
Student-Athlete
RMAC School Attended:

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
Years Attended: 1994-1997
Sports Played: Soccer

Athletic Accomplishments:
Greg Meyer will always hold a special place in UCCS sports history as the school's first All-American- an honor he earned in 1997. During that season, he set school records for wins (14) goals against average (0.87) and shutouts (9.5) that not only still stand, but have never been seriously threatened. Among single-season record holders, Meyer has four of the top five wins seasons, four of the top six saves seasons and the top two shutout seasons. Not surprisingly, he holds the school's career records in most games played (75), most wins (43), most saves (482), and most shutouts (21.5). Meyer was a two-time All-RMAC selection (1996-97) and was an All-Colorado Athletic Conference and All-Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Soccer League selection prior to that. In his two seasons in the RMAC, Meyer recorded 16.5 shutouts, 135 saves and 25 wins. He played professionally for the Colorado Stampede and the Nashville metros of the A League. From there, he trained in England, then with the Colorado Rapids but did not appear in a game.
Civic Activities: Served as a volunteer coach for the YMCA while a student-athlete at UCCS. Upon graduation, served as a volunteer goalkeeper coach for Lewis-Palmer High School's women's soccer program. Since then, has worked with Pike's Peak YMCA Partner's Campaign, which raises money to allow children who could not otherwise afford to participate in YMCA activities, camps and child care. Has also been a volunteer for the Leukemia Foundation and is currently working to raise money for a Family Retreat/Conference Center in Yampa, Colorado.
