RMAC Hall of FameBill Noxon Called the "Western Slope Wizard" in an article by Denver Post,
Noxon compiled an 87-44-2 record in 14 years as Western State
football coach, developing the Mountaineers into a national power.
Between 1973 and 1979, Noxon guided WSC to seven consecutive RMAC
championships. In all, Noxon collected eight RMAC crowns. In 1978,
Western State made it to the Final Four of the NAIA playoffs, one
of three trips Noxon made to the national tournament. Noxon was
named NAIA District VII Coach of the Year three times. He also
spent nearly 20 years as a high school coach prior to Western
State, winning 130 games and a 2A state championship. Noxon now has
residences in both Grand Junction and Scottsdale, Ariz.
