Western State College Sports Information Director

Position: Western State College of Colorado is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Sports Information Director. This is a full time, 12 month position including a full benefit package.

Qualifications:  B.A. degree (or equivalent) required. Masters Degree preferred. A degree in Journalism or related field is preferred. Minimum of 3 years collegiate sports media experience preferred.

Duties:  This individual will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Sports Information office of the Athletic Department. Those duties include writing press releases, writing and designing media guides, updating the department's web site, staffing all home events, implementation of stats for all home events and all athletic teams.

Skills:  Strong writing ability and overall communication skills are critical. Knowledge of Stat Crew software for football, basketball and volleyball required. Knowledge of Quark Express, Photoshop, Power Point, and Microsoft Word and graphic design skills are strongly preferred. The ability to update department web site on Internet Explorer is required.  Strong media relations and people skills are required, as well as the ability to work with coaches, athletic staff members, faculty, staff across campus, students, student-athletes, community members and other groups.  A strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task is critical.

Salary:  $34,000

Description:  Western State College (WSC) is a four year liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2400 students.  WSC competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and is a member of the NCAA II.  WSC has a thriving and competitive athletic program and is located in Gunnison, Colorado.  Gunnison is located approximately 200 miles southwest of Denver in a beautiful high mountain valley located at 7,703 above sea level.
